Wedding Photo Shoot in Johor Bahru
July 4th, 2008
Assuming you have already signed up a wedding package with one of the Bridal House in Johor Bahru (Fables, Venus Bridal House, SG Bridal etc etc..). The day has come for the photo shoot. What do you need to do? What do you need to know?
Photo Shoot Process
If you have both the indoor as well as outdoor shoot, be prepared to know that it is a very tiring process. A typical photo shoot schedule is listed below.
1. 10.30am - 11.30am: 1st Make-up for Bride and Bridegroom
2. 11.30am - 17:30pm: Indoor shoot/Make-up for Bride
3. 17.30pm - 18.30pm: Outdoor shoot
1. 10.30am - 11.30am: Make-up for Bride and Bridegroom
1st Make-up for Bride last from 10.30am - 11.20am. 1st and only Makeup for Bridegroom from 11.20am - 11.30am (Sad huh.. only 10mins.. :p). The make-up for Bride includes the normal hair setting, facial toning as well as eyelashes touch-ups (trimming/ attaching fake eyelashes).
For Bridegroom, the main thing to be done is to set the hair for photo shoot. Of course, putting foundations on the face as well. Else, there is really not much else to mention.
While the pretty Bride is undergoing transformation to be an even prettier Bride (from 10.30am to 11.20am), the Bridegroom has nothing to do besides admiring his Bride. It makes sense to bring along some magazines, newspaper, Playstation or anything that can occupy his time during the 1st and subsequent make-up for the Bride. Some Bridal House like Fables do have television at the make-up studio but it is better to put read something you like than to put yourself at the mercy of what is showing on the television.
Note that in additional to the amount that you already pay for the wedding package, you will need to pay an additional amount to the make-up artist (You should further clarify this when you want to sign up a wedding with one of the Bridal House in Johor Bahru). The fees will range from RM$100 - RM$150.
2. 11.30am - 17:30pm: Indoor shoot/Make-up for Bride
Once the first make-up is done, it is time to get changed. Most Bridal House will have 6 costumes for Indoor Shoot. You will need to come 1 week before the Photo shoot to select these costumes. Among the 6 costumes, there should be a good mix of both wedding gowns and evening gowns. Of course, there’s nothing to stop you if you prefer the traditional Chinese cheongsam. The wedding shoot process is biased towards the Bride. The Bride will choose these costumes and the matching costume will be chosen for the Bridegroom.
After changing into the 1st costume, its time to smile! Actually more than that.. time to twist your waist, turn your head, sit, stand, hold your Bridegroom’s hand, carry your Bride… The photographer, being the most important person of the day (besides the Bride and Bridegroom of course) calls the shot. If the make-up is not nice, he will tell the make-up artist to touch up. If the layout of the lights and studio is not perfect, he will instruct the layout to be tweaked for the optimum photo effect. If the poses are not nice, he will gently coach the Bride and Bridegroom into the desired pose. Typically, 15 shoots are taken for each costume. Depending on the experience of the Photographer, he may assess the best angle of your face (you may look very good if the shot is taken off the right side of your face for example) to take the shot and allocate more shots to such angles.
Once done, it is time to get changed into the 2nd costume. The make-up artist will then change the image of the Bride to suit the costume. This will mean another 15 minutes of free time on the Bridegroom to watch up on the current affairs from the newspapers. It is advisable to bring along some comfortable slippers for both the Bride and Bridegroom as well.
This process will carry on till the photo shoot is done for all the 6 costumes.
Lunch is not catered for by the Bridal House and you should bring some snacks/drinks along. As the photo shoot is quite hectic, there is about 20minutes for you to grab a quick bite. Bring a straw along as well so as not to spoil the lipstick make-up on the Bride’s lips.
Additional Notes:
1. If it is a busy day, there may be another couple sharing the studio as well. This will mean that you will alternate between the make-up and photo shoot with another couple. If one couple is having the photos taken, another couple will be in the make-up room to touch up the make-up.
2. If the Bridegroom and/or Bride are wearing spectacles, the Bridal House will provide their own spectacle frame for the photo shoot as lens are reflective in nature and will affect the photographs. As you may not like the frames they provide, bring along a small screwdriver to remove the lens from your own spectacle frame and use it for the photo shoot.
3. 17.30pm - 18.30pm: Outdoor shoot
Indoor shoot is done. Now for the final lap. Outdoor shoot is usually done at Sultan Garden or Danga Bay. Some people may go further north to Desaru and Mersing. This is where the slippers you bring will come in handy. Wear them to walk to the shooting site before changing into heels. For Bridegroom, train your arms as the photographer may want you to carry your Bride. The Bride may lose some weigh if necessary. :p
Transportation will be provided by the Bridal House unless the shooting location is far away. The Bridal House will then inform you of the additional charge. There is no restriction for the outdoor shoot to be done locally. You can sign-up the package in Johor Bahru and have the outdoor photo shoot done in Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan..
So finish the outdoor shoot and the day is over. Time to rest and get a good dinner. And look forward to the next milestone.. The Wedding day itself.
