Hi Florence,
I am Florence Tan too
a Malaysian residing in Spore for 20 years now.
I am truly glad to see that there are some ppl out there who are keen in introducing JB to others. I too find this site useful as I have “lost” my sense of direction in JB after all the change in roads and new developments around.
Keep up the good work guys!

However, there is still many Chinese businesses there that will be closed. Depends on what you want to do but i reckon it will be as bad as JB. No point making such a trip down during this period.

Hi Matthew, the RM50 notes are not exactly new as they had been circulating since late last year!
Counterfeit notes in Malaysia is still not so profound – out of an abundance of precaution however, most businesses still have the UV light scanner to ensure that the notes are real.

You can only watch FIFA World Cup on RTM in Singapore if you use your own antenna – If you use the TV jack from HDB, you will receive scrambled signal.

Hi,
I am new here. I wish someone could help me on the uncertainties that i have. I am planning to drive into Singapore for the first time. I have the following questions. It would be a big help if someone guide me on this.
1) I am a Malaysian, planning to drive into Singapore for the first time. I have a valid Malaysian passport which expires Nov 2012. Is this sufficient or do i have to renew it for a longer duration?
2) There are 2 entry points into Singapore from Johor, i will be driving on a Friday late morning, which entrance is suitable? CIQ for the Gelang Patah Way?
3) I understand i have to fill up a white card, where can i get this card in advance and fill it up and keep it with me? Do i present the card when i enter Singapore or Exit Singapore?
4) I understand that i have to purchase a pass card, where do i purchase this card from? Can i purchase it in advance or do i have to go into a specific lane in the imi to get it.
5) I have a ipad 3G, whereby it has the “MAPS” which acts as a GPRS to show directions. Will my maxis 3G will work in Singapore and can i still navigate with my ipad’s maps?
Thanks you for your assistance.

Hi MM, please see my response below:
1. This is more than sufficient. You need not renew it for a longer duration.
2. Late morning traffic are usually moderate, thus, you just need to choose a CIQ which is nearer to your location.
3. You need to present the white card when you enter Singapore. If you do not have the white card, try to get it from your relatives and friends. Otherwise, you can also get the white card from the custom booth, where you will need to quickly fill it up and submit to the custom officer.
4. You have to purchase an Autopass for your car. Please read the following post carefully:
http://www.limsimi.com/johor-bahru-news-information/driving-a-malaysian-registered-car-into-singapore/
5. Your Maxis 3G will work in Singapore. However, data roaming charges are expensive and not advisable. I suggest you plan your route in Singapore carefully before driving in, since Singapore roads are easy to navigate around.

Lawrence Gan

Hi Geoffrey, you can try parking at the Leisure Mall (best lots are the ones directly in front of the Giant Supermarket). It cost RM$1/entry and is generally crowded.
Alternatively, you can try the Hotels in JB – the parking rate is more expensive but definitely safer – Thistle, Mutiara and Puteri Pacific (avoid Crystal Crowne).

Hi there
Hope everyone’s doing fine. I am currently sourcing for the below, and hope some good recommendation can be given to me with contact details:
1) Kitchen contractors
2) Factory that sells various type of wood for some house DIY project i.e. including walk-in wardrobe, fixings..
3) Hardware store (for my man who is handy in home improvement. It seems there are no such shops around and only available in Carrefour/Giant; unlike Singapore!)
We are in Johor Bahru. We do have very limited budget however although quality comes with a price, I hope I am not dealing with contractors who partipicates in fairs such as HomeDec, which I believed are always overpriced.
It’s not easy searching online as websites always looks nice, I believe word-of-mouth is better.
Hope I can get some help here.
Thanks so much =)

Hi, I wd like to make some enquiries :
1. Where is the nearest A & W if I take the 2nd Link? Was informed it’s at Bukit Indah but heard rumours that it’s no longer there. Can you let me know the directions and also the coordinates (if you have)?
2. I’m thinking to do my grocery shopping in JB. Saw your top 4 hypermarts which I understand can be easily access via the Woodlands Checkpoint. But if I decide to use the 2nd Link, is there any nearby hypermarts? My list of shopping includes instant food (eg curry puffs, popiah), dry goods like rice (if allowed) and baby products.
3. Lastly, before I start shopping I need to know where can I find the latest list of prohibited items not allowed out of S’pore including the minimum purchases of each item?
Thanks so much in advance and u guys rock!!!

Hi,
We found this puppy trapped in the drain behind our house few nights ago. The puppy is ~3-4 months old, is a mongrel , very playful.
Unfortunately the puppy will grow to be too big for our chihuahua. We are desperately trying to look for new home in for the puppy.
Could you please help to pass this message to your circle. Please msg me if you would be keen to adopt or if you know of any friends who would be open to adoption. We are only looking for dog lovers.
P/S: I can email the brochure which we created, please kindly drop me an email and I’ll reply with attachment.
Thanks a lot!
Erika

Hi guys,
First of all, kudos goes out to you guys who run this site. It’s so informative! It’s been a long time since I’ve gone into JB from Singapore and I must say I’m really thrilled that they stopped the white card. It’s such a hassle to fill!!
Anyway, the purpose of my post is to ask if anybody has contacts for any reliable transport services (goods van)? Our church is doing a camp at Pulai Springs Resort over Hari Raya weekend (18-20 Aug 2012) and we need to transport some sound/music equipment up.
Someone recommended Skyfast Express, but they only have trucks and apparently Malaysian Customs has suspended all trucking movement over that weekend.
Would appreciate if anyone has any other recommendations. Thanks!

Hi, I am looking for locations where they sell processed wood pieces, DIY stuff etc (am planning to do up own walk-in wardrobe). It is quite tough to find those factory locations with all these ‘raw’ materials. I have heard about Taman Universiti. Anyone has any input as to where exactly I can find such stuff?
Thanks much.
