Ramadan ‘Buka Puasa’ Promotion 2011 at Thistle Johor Bahru

August 1st, 2011 admin

This Ramadhan, Thistle Johor Bahru has lined up exciting promotions and the one which seemed to have caught on its own followers would be the return of ‘Ramadan Bazaar @ Thistle’ at Orchid Ballroom, following its huge success last year.

‘Ramadan Bazaar @ Thistle’ promotes hawker style food at individual stalls such as Seafood BBQ that features Prawn, Salmon Steak, Squid, Red Snapper, Sea Bass and Sting Ray with a mouth-watering variety of Sambal and choice of sauces. If smoke is the signal you recognise, then head on directly to the Satay stall which also features Yakitori and ‘Otak-Otak’. Another break fast ‘must have’ is ‘Bubur Lambuk’ a famous Malaysian-styled porridge, which will be prepared in its original recipe and a ‘must-try’ seafood version. Find other stalls of Roast Lamb, Murtabak & Prata, Stir Fried Noodles, Rojak Mamak, Burgers, ‘Roti John’, Noodles and Pasta (featuring the famous Laksa Johor and ‘Bakso’) as well as Lok Lok ‘steamboat’. However, the favourite stall may still be the Fritter Stall which dishes out Deep Fried Durian in crispy pastry, ‘Keropok Lekor’, Spring Rolls, Mantau and ‘Cucur Udang’. Another stall that has been equally ‘ambushed’ last year is the Deep Fried Stall which produces Deep Fried Quail, Pandan-wrapped and Whole Spiced Fried Chicken, right out of the wok.

Whilst many hotels do not feature the King of Fruits, Thistle Johor Bahru is making an exception. A stall of fresh fruits which includes Durian will be set on daily basis and guests are welcomed to consume as much as they can at the stall itself. (The stall will of course be set up outside of the ballroom; great news for those who have not yet taken a liking to the aroma of this King of Fruits!) If Durian does not tickle your taste bud, then you may opt for Rambutan, Cempedak, Langsat, Mango or Honey Dew amongst others.

To quench the Ramadan thirst make a beeline for the heavenly cold and hot beverage and with 10 types to choose from, one could enjoy a fresh serving of Katira, Sugar Cane, Cincau, Coconut, Cendol and even the ever popular ‘Teh Tarik’!

A little bit of subtle entertainment is definitely soothing sounds to the weary souls. Catch the Ghazal and Keroncong performances scheduled throughout Ramadan.

Nearby prayer rooms are provided at the ballroom compound.

‘Ramadan Bazaar @ Thistle’ is prized at RM75++ per adult and RM50++ per child, aged 6-12. Children below 6 get to dine for FREE.

If you prefer table service and the elegance of not piling your plate with too much indulgence, then the ‘Buka Puasa a’la Hidang’ might be more suitable for you. At Glass restaurant, a delicate selection of fine traditional and international dishes will be served directly to your table. If you have 4 persons in the party and above, enjoy premium selection of vegetable, fish, poultry, meat and seafood, cooked a’la minute for you. Selections of appetisers, soups, desserts and beverage are presented buffet styled. The a’la ‘hidang’ break fast is priced at RM120++ per adult. Children aged 6-12 gets 25% discount and below 6 get to dine for FREE.

Thistle Johor Bahru banquet and Glass kitchens have been certified ‘Halal’ by JAKIM. Hong Leong Bank, Citibank, The Buffet Club and Thistle’s own Entrée discount card holders enjoy great savings throughout August. For group bookings and more information, please call the hotel at 07 -222 9234.
