Another Big Robbery at Johor Bahru
March 1st, 2009 stephen.wong
Just when we thought that things can’t get any worse (refer to our post here), my eyes nearly popped out after reading Sin Chew Daily today.
In Jalan Pingai (opposite Pelangi Leisure Mall, just a 5 minutes drive from the Johor Bahru CIQ), a group of robbers raided a computer shop at 5am yesterday, making away with RM$300,000 worth of computer equipments. The security system did triggered a phone call to the shop owner but the robbers are already gone with their loot when he arrived at his shop, shortly after receiving the breach alert. The Police arrived 30 minutes later to find the shop owner in despair.
I am not trying to praise the robbers but this is amazing due to:
1. Good Planning – The robbers must been observing the shop and planned well. The whole operation took just 15 minutes and only the most expensive items in the shop are targeted.
2. No fear - They came with 3 lorries and 2 sedan cars. There are about 10 of them. No fear of being noticed.
3. Calmness – Despite sounding off the alarm system, they are focused on their jobs and moved quickly to remove the items from the store.
Now, if only the Police in Johor Bahru can present more of such traits ..

Commercial security alert would had triggered the police as well. Wondered why they took longer than the shopowner to arrive?

Very strange, I had an incident where my house alarm had triggered and the neighbours had called my handphone to see if all are ok. Since nobody was at home, I called the police hotline and there were there in 5 minutes, as they were around the house when I reached back home.
The police in JB is pretty efficient!
