Getting to Johor Bahru (Johor Baru, Johore Bahru, Johor Baharu)
May 18th, 2008 admin
While Johor Bahru (Johor Baru, Johore Bahru, Johor Baharu) is a small town, it is well connected, in part due to its proximity to Singapore as well as the presence of Senai International Airport (IATA: JHB).
Via Singapore (BUS)
1. From Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange/MRT, you can take the following bus service to Woodlands Checkpoint: (911,912,913, 950). Note that bus service 950 is preferred as it will drop you off directly below the Customs. You will need to walk a fair bit (5mins) if you take the other bus services.

2. Alternatively, from Kranji MRT, take the following bus service to Woodlands Checkpoint (170, CW1, CW2).
3. Closer to town, you can board bus service 170 from Queens Street.
Once you arrive at the Woodlands Checkpoint, clear the Customs and you will have to take any of the buses mentioned above across the causeway, where you will need to alight for clearance at the Malaysian Customs. You can walk across the causeway but this will set you back by about 20mins. Do this only if there is really a terrible queue for the buses, or if you really feel like losing some weight.
Via Singapore (CAR)
Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) leads all the way to Woodlands Checkpoint. The traffic if often terrible. Be sure to checkout the “live” traffic condition at www.onemotoring.com before starting your engine.
Flight
Senai airport (http://www.senaiairport.com) is located about 30km from Johor Bahru. It will cost about RM30-RM50 via taxi (negotiable) to get to Johor Bahru. Note that taxi meters is seldom used in Johor Bahru for fare charging.. rather, a pre-agreed price is a common practice.
