Want to relive the good old times of walking across the causeway? It might soon be possible.
Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar was quoted last Saturday as saying that the Cabinet had made the decision recently, having acknowledged pedestrians’ woes.
“I cannot give a definite date for the opening but it will be soon,” he said. “We are looking into the logistics, including manpower for the counters at the old CIQ.”
It remains unknown how the new system will work out, and if buses will also be stopping at the old CIQ again. The shop keepers at Jalan Wong Ah Fook are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for this day to come. So too does the beggars, cigarette peddlers, taxi drivers etc etc..
