Johore? Johor? Bahru? Baharu? Baru? Which is which?
May 29th, 2008 admin
Wanted to clear this up. What does JB stands for?
Ans: Johor Baru. Well, if your answer is Johor Bahru, mm.. your answer is correct as well. And if your answer is Johore Bahru, you are right as well! Doesn’t make sense?
“Baru” (or “Bahru”) in Malay actually means “New”. Schools are now teaching using the the word “Baru” instead of ”Bahru”. English papers generally use the word “Baru” as well. However, Johor Bahru is still the most commonly used term in directories, on Government publications as well as on the internet.
So let me rephase my question: What does JB stands for (most commonly)?
Ans: Johor Bahru!
