Elizabeth Wong at Press Conference
First, we have the debacle in Perak.
2 assembly members who went missing (Jamaluddin Mat Radzi and Osman Jailu) on 25th Feb 2009 and notice of their resignation were soon received. Just when everyone else was wondering what happened, Jamaluddin Mat Radzi and Osman Jailu clarified separately in news conferences to state, categorically, that they have never sent in their resignation letter.
On 4th Feb 2009, 2 of them, together with Nasarudin Hashim and former DAP assemblywoman and deputy speaker Hee Yit Foong appeared in a press conference with DPM Najib in an apparent victory. The state of Perak has fallen to the Barisan National (BN) with these 4 “defectors”. Discussions in Johor Bahru (Johor Baru, Johore Bahru, Johor Baharu) geared up in recent days on the development of news regarding accusations on Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Many debatable notes have been made regarding these accusations and the public is holding out for any defining evidence that may just explode the political scene. Datuk Anwar comments that there will be “more evidence to come” also sets the expectation that an imminent revelation is on the cards.
Updates (06.07.2008)
1. Global hunt is now on for private investigator Balasubramaniam Perumal who retracted his statutory declaration on accusations against Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. He and his family disappeared after the retractment statement.
2. More than 8,000 people turned out at the rally staged today at Kelana Jaya stadium despite warnings from Police that the gathering is illegal. The protest is against the fuel-hike made by the Malaysian Government.

With information being communicated more rapidly and in a more timelier manner compared with traditional prints, the “Big Brother” presence in internet publication is getting more evident.
Politics is now a sensitive topic in Malaysia. A resounding result for the opposition party Parti Keadilan Rakyat (The People’s Justice Party) in the 2008 Malaysian election throws the country into a disarray. Barisan National (BN) holds the slender majority in the government mandate and this mandate can easily be snatched away by the very man who used to be the assumed successor to Dr Mahathir: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The latest news on Anwar is yet another sodomy charge on him, this time by a 23 year old former aide. This reeks strongly of the similar 1998 charges made against Anwar, which Anwar has vehemently denied. Conspiracy theories pointed to yet another plot by the Malaysian government to remove Anwar from politics, and effectively removing the threat posed by PKR. This latest development may yet define the political scene of Malaysia for the next decade.
Much has been promised by the Malaysian government – to weed out corruption, to lower the crime rate, to bring in efficient government as well as Read on…
