Things to note for Chinese New Year in Johor Bahru
February 7th, 2010 admin
As we usher in the year of the Tiger, do note the following if you are crossing the causeway between Singapore and Johor Bahru during the Lunar Chinese New Year.
1. White Card/ Form is now required for entry into Johor Bahru! Yes, this is like the up-teem time the Malaysian authorities had been changing their mind but since 1st Feb 2010, white cards are now required at both the Johor Bahru Sultan Iskandar Sultan Ismail custom as well as at Linkedua (2nd Link). This reverses an earlier decision on 4th Jan 2010 that white card would no longer be required. See related post here.
2. In addition to (1) above, note that the format of the white card has changed as well. This is a slight improvement compared with the earlier white cards with less page to fill up. Not to worry if you had actually stocked up tons of the old white cards. They can still be used.

3. Expected traffic jams from Singapore to Johor Bahru.
The following peak periods will see you losing 2.5 hours of your life queuing away to get into Johor Bahru. Stay away from these peak periods if you can:
i. 11th Feb 2010, Thursday (evening)
ii. 12th Feb 2010, Friday (evening)
iii. 13th Feb 2010, Saturday (morning)
4. Expected traffic jams from Johor Bahru to Singapore.
The following peak periods will see you losing 2.0 hours of your life queuing away to get into Singapore. Stay away from these peak period if you can:
i. 13th Feb 2010, Saturday (evening)
ii. 15th Feb 2010, Monday (evening)
iii. 16th Feb 2010, Tuesday (evening)
5. Finally, if you have a spot of gambling during this lunar New Year period, it is fine to lose some cash to friends and relatives but NOT to the the snatch thieves in Johor Bahru. Keep your valuables and Ang Pow out of sight.
The Team at Limsimi.com wishes everyone a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year, with good health and fulfillment in the year to come. 恭喜发财!!

I still feel that the white card can be further trimed. Or follow SG white card where you can tick if you are malaysian and most of the other details you can ignore.

Great to see the shortened version of the form, as I find most information required unnecessary.

Old white card can’t use anymore. Last saturday (6 Feb) my fren (Singaporean) saw a girl using old form then the officer tear the old form on the sport and ask the girl refill a new form.
Haiz… Pls save the world………

Last week, my family consisting of 4 persons went into JB. However, we are short of one white card. When I ask for the car at the counter, the officer just shook his head and did not give me any white card. In the end, I still can enter and exit the checkpoint without filling any white card.

Hi haizneo, I just tried using the old white card and the immigration officer let me through without issues. Guess it is subjected to the discretion of the custom officer.
