With the hunt for Mas Selamat still on, the heightened level of checks at the Woodlands Custom means that it now takes longer for outgoing cars to clear the Singapore Immigration. This has resulted in long queues at Woodlands Centre, with the queue sometimes stretching to the junction of Woodlands Center Road and Woodlands Street 13. It gets especially terrible on Saturdays between 12noon to 4pm where cars gets packed back-to-back and tempers flare due to the incessant horning and crawling pace. In you intend to drive in, queuing at old Woodlands Road via Kranji may be worth a try instead.

In the meanwhile, SMRT has put up notices for Bus Services 911,912,913 and 950, informing passengers that bus routes may be diverted should there be a bad jam. This effectively means that passengers will have to alight and walk (usually about 500m) to the Woodlands Custom.

Do the following if you intend to enter Johor Bahru via Singapore (Woodlands):
1. Beat the afternoon crowd by entering JB in the early morning. There are many nice breakfast hunts in Johor Bahru.

2. Check out the Live Traffic Conditions at the LTA website here to set your expectations on the waiting time:

3. Lastly, if you are driving in alone, you may want to get a great companion who can “talk cock” along the way. If you cannot shorten the waiting time, at least make it more passable.
