———————————————————————————————————————————————
The main drawback of catching movies in Malaysia is the stronger censorship (Malaysia is still a conservation country) compared to Singapore so expect more nudity/violence/and strong language scenes to be cut.
To dispel any myths, you will not see cockroaches and mouse running under your seats nor will you find weird people at the back of the cinema recording the film for pirated DVD productions. The cleanliness and quality of the visual and audio sound system is to a decent standard.
So join the queue for movie tickets and grab a popcorn set at RM$8/set (with drinks) as well. Sit back and enjoy your movie!

Nice and comprehensive website. Was wondering since there are more cinemas in jb than these 3, why not have more introduction to the rest of the cinemas. Good work describing these 3 though.

Went to TGV. The 3D price there is RM21..which compared to SG is quite cheap… 3D quality is average..like what you see in the heartlands…then the seats are nice tall and comfy for tall people is very good. and ambience is good..better than some cinemas in singapore and its cheap and good.
popcorn combo comes at RM9.90 for starters..even the most expensive set oso cheaper than popcorns from cathay in singapore…
definitely worth watching movie in msia.

Went to City Square last Saturday. Arrive around 1:30pm. Thought can catch the 2:45pm but because of “full-house” seating for the next 2 shows, we ended up with the 5:15 show. Hang out at Season’s Swensons while waiting.
Parking ticket RM12 (we spent about 5 hrs there). But altogether not bad leh. We only spend SGD$60 for movie, lunch, ice-cream and yes parking, for 2 Adult and 2 child.
And best of all, seats are not the auto-flip type. So my small boy can sit comfortably. I’m not a fussy cinema goer but I’m particular about cleanliness. So I rate the one at City Square “OK”. Don’t mind going there again.

I m local JB lad & working in Singapore . Travel in and out daily basis.
Just a personal Opinion ,
Most the Cinemas in JB are ratherly have good standard in cleaniness , comfy, Staff service,
Other than the Cinemas that are mentioned above,
a new Cinema will be availabe in JUSCO – Bukit Indah. You can get there from the 2nd Link if you’re driving
If you’re using public transportation.
There is a bus service – Transit Link CW3 that commute through and fro between JUSCO- Bukit Indah and Jurong East

Thanks for sharing Marky.
Gone are the days when you associate Malaysia Cinemas with cockroaches and rats running underneath the seats. The standard has caught up to some extent with Singapore and now makes for a pleasant “pai tuo” experience.
