Dataran Bandaraya, Johor Bahru, Malaysia

December 29th, 2008 lawrence.gan

Dataran Bandaraya was built in Jan 1994 as a proclaimation of Johor Bahru as a city. In the initial years, it plays host to many performances and events. While the crowd has dwindled in recent years, you can still see people gathering here for a game of football (there are 3 fields facing Dataran Bandaraya) or simply for food, especially on Sundays.

Dataran Bandaraya is easily accessible via Jalan Abu Bakar (travel along the Tebrau Straits in the direction of Danga Bay). To be honest, it is not a compelling visit. When you pass by this clock tower however, do note the historical importance of this tower to Johor Bahru!
