Jusco Permas Jaya – Shopping Mall amidst new Housing Developments

Permas Jaya (official name is Bandar Baru Permas Jaya) is an area in Johor Bahru bustling with new housing development projects. One thing you will realise as you drive through this precinct is the newly formed condominiums and bungalows that will greet you, as well as the numerous signboards touting sales agent numbers.

The Permas Jaya Bridge that connects Permas Jaya to Johor Bahru city center is notorious for traffic jams. With only 2 lanes (one lane in each direction), you can only travel as fast as the car in front of you. Once in a while when a bus or lorry breaks down on the bridge, massive traffic jams form up and threatens to give you more time admiring the Pelentong River below.

Once you manage to clear the bridge, Jusco Permas Jaya is just a 3 minutes drive from the bridge. Not a very big mall (it is only ONE storey high) but it packs enough inside that can occupy your time for a few hours.

Remember Corney Dog, Curly Fries and Root Beer Float?? For those whom still want to reminiscence the food from Fast Food Chain – A&W, there is a branch here.

Finally, the is a good distribution of retail stores including Eu Yan Seng (Chinese Medical Hall), Baskin Robbins (Ice Cream), City Chain (Watches), OSIM (massager chairs)…. And for those of you who are not A&W fans, the conventional KFC and MacDonald’s have a presence in this mall as well. Overall, visit this mall only if you are within the vicinity, else Aeon Tebrau City has more to offer shoppers.
