Johor Bahru (Johor Baru, Johore Bahru, Johor Baharu) Bridal Houses
June 23rd, 2008 admin
Getting married soon? Besides the purchase of a house and the selection of the wedding date and venue, another key task is to sign up a wedding package that provides rental of wedding gowns and photoshoots.
Johor Bahru (Johor Baru, Johore Bahru, Johor Baharu) has several Bridal House/Shops that offers attractive packages that are customisable to the different needs of couples. Bridal House (Bridal Shops) in Johor Bahru includes:
i. Fables Bridal Couture
Add: 95&95A, Jalan Keris Satu, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80050 Johor Bahru, Johor
Tel: 07-3319595
ii. Venus Bridal Selection (Just across the road from Fables)
Add: No. 95&97, Jalan Perisai, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80250, Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Tel: 07-3359919
URL: http://www.venusbridal.com.my
iii. SG Bridal House
iv. Mona Lisa Bridal Palace
Add: City Square, Level 4
v. Printemps
Add: City Square, Level 4
vi. Dawn
Add: City Square, Level 4
vii. Superstar
Add: City Square, Level 4
Yes, you would probably observe that City Square houses most of the Bridal house listed above.
Current Recommendation List:
1. Fables
2. Printemps
3. Dawn
Fables Bridal Couture
And Venus Bridal shop just across the road from Fables.
Price:
For a going rate of about RM$3800, you will be able to get the following:
1. Rental of Wedding Gown (For Singaporeans, yes, you are allowed to bring this across the causeway)
2. Rental of Evening Gowns
3. Rental of Coats for Bridegroom
4. Make-up during photoshoots
5. Car decorations
6. 20″X40″ Photo – 1 Piece
7. 11″X14″ Photo – 2 Pieces
8. 15″X24″ Photo – 22 pages + 1 Cover Page
Note that the photographs comes with both indoor and outdoor shoots. Of course, if you bargain, you will be able to get the common freebies like guestbooks, DVDs and Poster w/stand thrown in. If you are aggressive enough, you can even negotiate the rental of a totally NEW wedding gown. Payments can be made by installments and the service staffs are generally (and sometimes overly) friendly.
Prices in Johor Bahru are much cheaper than Singapore bridal shops (Sophia, Milan, Juliet etc). The main item lacking is that most bridal shops in Johor Bahru does not allow you to keep the bridegroom’s suit - only rental. But again, this is not a critical decision factor.
If you are unsure which Bridal shop to go to, I will suggest Fables as a start as it is one of the newest Bridal shops around (Note that Fables and Venus are just a 5mins cab ride from the Causeway for a cost of about RM$8). Preference in the design of bridal gown may also affect your decision so it does not hurt to window shop around for a while. Prices are largely similar across the various shops so it may not weigh as a Hugh consideration.
Lastly, it is a common tactic (across both sides of the causeway, actually) for the bridal shops to persuade you to purchase more photoprints after your photoshoot is done. Be tempted to develop more photos of yourself (you probably never realise you can look so charming/beautiful) but keep your original budget in view.
Congrats and Happy planning!

Hi Angie, indeed, there is a fire at SG Bridal started due to electrical faults. Naturally, there are damages to some gowns but we understand that the management is targeting to re-open the shop within this month. In addition, affected customers have been given the assurance that existing packages will still be honoured. For more information and for avoidance of doubt, you can contact SG bridal directly at +607 333 8813

Cheap: Superstar at City Square – No frills, and the gowns are really more traditional (You can tell just but looking into the store front).
Cheaper: Try Tun Aminah Area. Plenty of Bridal house as well.
Good Quality: I can name a few – Venus, Fables, Printemps and SG Bridal (hopefully, they have recovered sufficiently from their store fire by now).
Balancing “Cheap” and “Good”, I will recommend Venus and Fables. Good thing that they are just opposite each other, so you can easily compare what they offer you.
One of our team members will also be writing a review/rating post on the various Bridal Houses in JB soon, so watch out for it!

Hi Nichole, don’t fret! Make your way to any of the bridal house in JB to find if they find a matching gown. If you need cheap gowns, try Superstar at City Square. It might be cheap but the selection there are still decent.

Congrats Ben Ben.
Both are fine, and we hear little complains so far.
Once of the main difference between Fables Bridal Couture and D’gio is that for Indoor Shoots, D’gio has mainly plain background while for Fables, they have several themes you can choose from – European, Nature etc.. which some of our visitors find more appealing.

I think that SG bridal house not a good recommend bridal house at JB. All of my friend regretted to go there after the photo shoots.
I already sign the package in the year 2008, but until now still yet to get marry because of my family issue. But the sales girl there look like not believe me.
After I said I wan to change the package to normal package like family package or ROM package… they regret to change. But before I sign up this package the sales girl have mention that we can change the package to another unless the money is use it in their company.
Do you think that if I dun wan to change my package now and wait until 3 more years juz marry…. The package free gift alrdy not same as before….

Hi, i just went to Venus to enquire about package price last sat. THey recommended an average package of RM4088. Anyone tried Venus? How’s the photo shoot? I dont like too much Photoshop editting. Looks fake.
However, i want to check out more places.
I saw Fables which is just opposite Venus. Anyone tried Fables??

Honestly, I’m a Fables’s client. If you ask about my opinion? I would only tell you there is no doubt for their photography & make-up skill, very good! But the rest are not really into our expectation. Gown selection for photo shoot are really limit, same for actual day gown as well. All are $, no $ no talk. Things they have promised became bounced cheque. Well, just really got to make sure they written black n white with what they promised to offer you. One of their staff is also a double face… so good luck to you if you have sign with them!

Sad to hear that Melissa. Guess it is always important to ensure all items agreed in the package are documented in writing. Talk cannot be taken at face value. May you have a smooth and memorable AD ahead.

Hi Winvian, I bought the package from a friend. So the price is lower than market price. I bought at about RM2.5k for a standard package. Many FOC, 10pgs, 30 pictures, out/indoor.
But their prices are not very expensive compared with Venus and Fables or SG Bridal. There are many bridal shops in Johor Jaya (Jalan Dedap X, some where near Monalisa), some of the shops advertised only RM2k for a package. You can check it out..

Hi All, I used SG Bridal House — Regretted!!
I have yet to collect my album, supposed to collect next week and make final payment, but in between, we almost quarrel with Ivy twice. She is the sister of the owner Kenneth, and her husband is their top photographer, Kelvin.
What happen was -
I paid RM6088 for my base package, added 300 for photoshoot in the horse ranch. For my package, I’ve bargained everything right at the beginning, I’m happy with the photo quality, and I expect to get what I’m supposed to get, including All Soft Copies.
Now the problem began. When we negotiate, we agreed that we will take back high resolutions soft copies for all the photos, every single photos. Ivy was the one who served me, and she promised me that she will give high resolution, but she cannot put in the invoice, to prevent other people from getting the same “horribly discounted price”, she quoted that. Though I wanted her to put down in black and white, she said – don’t worry, I will remember. And she put “All 4R” and her signature next to it.
When I want to get my soft copy, she denied that she promised high resolution, and told me only 4R, and she asked me to check my invoice. I was very angry, I told her I felt cheated, but she said that she was cheated instead. Before I flare up, she said – its ok, I deduct my own pay and give you high resolution.
I was so angry that I walked off from her shop.
When I went to their shop again for layout review, she asked me if I brought my hard disk drive so that she can save up on DVD, and burning DVD takes awhile. I didn’t make a fuss, but I told her – fine, I will bring my HDD the next time. But I want to confirm what I am getting
- All soft copies, including those I did not choose? She said yes, in high resolution.
- Also those in the album? And she said NO. Not even a 4R low resolution.
Both me and my husband was furious. She argued that they never ever give out album soft copies, and never ever a customer asked for it, and it was not their responsibility to inform customer that the album soft copy is not inside their “All softcopy” description.
We can’t accept all these nonsense. If knowing that we will not get the soft copy, we will not even consider signing up package with them! In the end, she asked the husband to talk to us. This guy, he has very bad attitude, and of course arguing with him is not at all easy. He kept saying he would like to offer a solution, but insist that the soft copy cannot be released. In the end he offers to give us 4R low resolution album soft copy, but claimed that this is a big favor he has never done before.
I accepted, but with a strong feeling that I was short-changed. How can they do such thing to customers? I am totally disappointed.
If anyone wants to patron SG Bridal House, by all means go ahead, because the photo quality is OK, but for your own good, clarify everything up front, whatever they promised, make them write down in black and white. That is a great lesson learn for me. Hope this will help

Guess the learning point here is really putting things into Black and White. If they refuse to do that, walk away.
Verbal promise is as good as air.
For the rest of the newly weds or to be, do share your package offer here or any good/bad experience!

Super fed-up with SG Bridal House in JB. Today went to collect the album and soft-copy, that day promise us 4R size for album photo as solution, today told us he didn’t mention. Both my & my hubby was so furious. Quarrel again, in the end only get a small resolution, I think something like 3R. Really disappointed.
We again, made a big mistake as we did not document the solution they offer last week.
Guys, really, don’t make the same mistake as us. If you really have to go SG bridal house, please open your eyes and ears, document every single thing to avoid disappointment.

Hi Winvian, looks like you got a good deal from Monalisa.
I got mine from Monalisa is about the same as yours except I only have 30poses for big album and the small album is using the same poses. I think only 20poses for the small album.
I think their service is quite good. I didn’t buy extra photos to put in the album. But i only buy the hardcopy. Which is RM8/pc. The price for soft copy and hard copy before edit is RM15/pc.
I have done the photoshoot and seen the pictures (before edit). I think they look good
. I am happy about it..
You can look for Kelly, she works there for about 10 yrs and she is very nice and helpful.
