Johor Bahru to Resorts World Sentosa/Casino (TS8)
September 4th, 2010 admin
During the Singapore-Malaysia’s Leaders retreat held on 24th May 2010, one of the key measure announced was to introduce 8 new bus routes, effectively doubling the number of bus services plying Singapore and Johor Bahru (4 from each side between Pasar Bakti and Larkin in Johor and the two Integrated Resorts, Boon Lay, Yishun, Newton and Changi Airport in Singapore).
This is also to cater to travel demand of Johoreans who now prefer Resorts World Sentosa (casino) as the place to rack in big bucks, compared against Genting which is more than 200km away.
As a follow up, a new bus service had materialised.
Effective 3 Sep 2010, TS8, coach service operated by Transtar will ply Kotoraya II Terminal (Johor Bahru) to Resort World Sentosa (RWS, Casino), along the following stops:

3. Woodlands CIQ (Woodlands Road)
4. Whitley Road (Opp. Raffles Town Club)
5. Stevens Road (Opp. Metro YMCA)
6. Paterson Road
7. Scotts Road (Opp. Thong Teck Bldg)
8. Zion Road (Great World City)
9. Outram MRT Station
10. Cantonment Link (KTM Station)
11. Resorts World Sentosa (Casino) Likewise, the return journey transverse the opposite direction.

If anyone had realized, JB town has been really quiet for the past few months after the Casinos in Singapore has opened.
Sat mornings – you see hordes of buses queuing up to get into Singapore. Saturday evening, while most Johoreans are in Singapore gambling, JB town is so quiet. Less people at mamat, less people at massage center and less people at plazas. Only cinemas are not affected because they are frequented by teenagers who cannot go into the casino anyway.
My friend just got a dad who lost some rm50k ringgit at Sands. This is staggering since the father earns only rm2k/mth selling bee hoon.
SG profits while us in JB suffers.

Hi Renee, it is highly dependent on traffic at the causeway. On average, it takes about 1 hour 10min.

Typically, the bus driver wait for a short period of time for passengers to clear the immigration before driving off. As they do not track the original number of passengers on board, it is possible that some may simply drive off once the number back on the bus are “about there”. Unlikely for you to claim for a refund – rather, the company would probably respond that you could had waited for the next bus.

Kotaraya II is the starting point for the bus service. The next stop is the CIQ, no other JB stop. Bus is first class tourist standard but they allowed standind passengers which mean first come first serve and you may lose your seat to other after immigration. The terminal is at the road behind Public Back. Make sure you bring a Choy San along.
