If you want to buy something for your car to spice up your driving journey, Mega Champion Auto Mart should be able to offer something you like.

Mega Champion Auto Mart is located at Jalan Meranti Merah (5 minutes drive from the Johor Bahru CIQ) which faces the Tebrau Highway. It is really a champion of sorts, as it has managed to survive for more than 20 years in the same location! It now occupies 4 shop spaces (walls in between hacked down), boast of more than 10 employees and sell everything from the beng-beng steering wheels, tyre rims, lubricants, car amplifiers, steering locks, car mat, antenna and maybe even a solar-powered Hello Kitty figurine (chiong one) that shakes it head under your windscreen.

The reason why this shop has some many employees is the installation of accessories. Some of the accessories they sell require some kind of service work. For example, installation of a car alarm, installation of solar film or even mounting of a bracket on the top of your vehicle. They also do the changing of car bumpers, although these bumpers are typically OEM bumpers.

A little about the service of this shop. This is a family run business and is now managed by the eldest Sister, affectionately addressed as “大姐” by employees and long time customers. The younger sister serves as the marketing manager. “大姐” is not a secret society member but she really calls the shot here, making her rounds to ensure everything is in order. This includes checking the work of her employees and closing the sales with customers.

The price offered for services and accessories are often non-negotiable. Most of the items have a price tag on them, so you do not need to cross-check each item with the sales person. Overall, the service is so-so and the price is decent. What makes this shop special is its reputation – being around for more than 20 years definately speaks for itself. And they do not jack up prices based on customers since the prices are clearly labelled.

Finally, the employees themselves are not the typically uncles who feels like ripping you off the moment you drive your car into their workshop. They are generally young and friendly but there are also some experienced staffs for more complex technical work. Being so near to the Johor Bahru CIQ is a plus, especially for Singaporeans.

do you have arm rest for grand livina? – Indonesia web site shows arm rest available for NGL in beige colour and quality looks decent. Web site also shows they have one piece insulator for NGL hood (engine bonnet). Thanks
